Convenient & Cost-effective Concrete Recycling

Convenient & Cost-effective Concrete Recycling

Concrete, is a material known for its flexibility, which is shown in the fact of most concrete buildings becoming redundant because there is no further need for it; not due to a failure in the concrete.  The adaptability of this valuable construction asset is emphasized by apparent redundant structures, being frequently reduced to their basic form and reconstructed to new, up-to-date designs.

In the event of a concrete building needing to be broken down, it then becomes a potential source of  useful recycled aggregate (RA) for a wide and varied range of endeavours. Recycled Aggregate has been estimated to account for a highly significant source of the aggregate in the United States, and increasing. A particular subset related to recycled aggregates is recycled concrete in which the masonry content is restricted not in excess of 5%. In addition, the characteristics of Recycled Concrete Aggregates regarding performance are superior resulting in there being fewer restrictions when using RCA in new material.

It is believed from various sources of information that approximately 75% – 80% of secondary and recycled aggregates are utilized as sub-base and fill. These include usage in airfield paving and road construction; although, the concrete industry directly employs industrial ecology in producing the latest concrete products, because of the inherently inert nature of the material. The elements of concrete may be recycled materials, as well as actual concrete, with the majority of the materials usually being available locally. The concrete remnants from demolished structures can be utilized for the protection of shorelines.

Many forms of material are reusable and in many cases reinforcing steel in new concrete is produced entirely from recycled steel. This is an example, of another recycled source that can be reused, for the improvement of the environment and a cost effective construction material!
